## **What is new in v1.3**

v1.3 is stable. This update adds video tracks, light gobos, mirrors, more model and animation controls, and experimental smoke simulation. It also includes native builds for Apple Silicon macOS and Linux, alongside Windows.

The latest patch is v1.3.1, with Minecraft 26.3 assets, cloud transparency options, and improvements to edited-model shading. Check the download page for the currently available Community and supporter builds.

## **Video tracks and light gobos**

![Video footage playing on a surface in Mine-imator Vexel Build](https://vexelmineimator.com/images/product/video-tracks.png)*Video can play inside your scene, not just alongside it.*

Import H.264 video in supported MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, and WMV files, with linked audio, trimming, playback speed, and looping. You can use the video as a texture in materials, glow, or light gobos.

Gobos project an image or video through a spotlight. Use them for window shadows, moving patterns, or stage lighting, with controls for placement, rotation, blur, feathering, and tiling. They also work with volumetric lighting.

## **Mirrors and more control over volumes**

![A planar mirror reflecting blocks in Mine-imator Vexel Build](https://vexelmineimator.com/images/changelog/v1-3-0-beta-8-1.png)*Planar reflections on a Surface in a mirror test scene.*

Surfaces can now act as planar mirrors, with reflection mix, tint, roughness, and quality controls. Mirror captures can be demanding, so use the quality your scene needs rather than turning every setting up.

Volumes gain path masks, emissive glow, color gradients, Torus and Icosphere shapes, and more lighting and scattering controls. HDR Camera Bloom also has a new multi-scale system. These build on the volumetrics, HDR Glow, and Curves color controls from v1.2.

## **Models, posing, and audio-driven animation**

![Vertex-edited Modelbench models imported into Mine-imator Vexel Build](https://vexelmineimator.com/images/changelog/v1-3-0-beta-9-1.png)*Vertex-edited cubes and planes from Modelbench Community Build.*

Import models with edited cube and plane vertices from Modelbench Community Build, including bends, mirrored geometry, and negative scaling. v1.3.1 improves their bend shading and corrects back-face normals on edited planes.

Global, Local, and Gimbal rotation spaces let you choose the axes you want to pose against. Bend IK has separate targets and blending, plus Tracking and Rotation modes. The Audio Reactive modifier can drive position, rotation, or scale from audio, with frequency, smoothing, and influence controls.

## **Smoke simulation**

Experimental

![Smoke simulation rising through a Minecraft forest](https://vexelmineimator.com/images/product/smoke-simulation.png)*Smoke simulation is included in v1.3, but remains experimental.*

The smoke system supports live previews, baking, colliders, and cached simulation frames. Enable it under Custom render settings > Experimental features > Smoke simulation.

Start with a small simulation and test it in your project before committing to a large bake. Smoke and complex volumes can become expensive quickly, and a stable software release does not mean this experimental feature is finished.

## **What is still in beta**

The Graph Editor, OBJ and glTF/GLB imports, Blender-style transforms, .schematic, .schem and .litematic importing, and the persistent Export Queue belong to the v1.4 beta. They are not included in stable v1.3, and beta access is still restricted to eligible accounts.

Creator and Studio support helps pay for development, maintenance, and testing. We will keep improving v1.3 while working through that beta feedback. Beacon remains future renderer work, not a renderer you can use in this release.
